Mr.M.N.Rao’s professional experience covers finance and general management functions in a very diverse set of businesses, and in global corporations. His last two major assignments were with Siemens and with the Tatas; as Executive Vice President (Finance) of Siemens India during the late nineties, and as MD/CEO of Siemens Shared Services thereafter. From mid 2005 and until Nov’12, he was the MD/CEO of Tata Business Support Services Ltd (TBSS)
He started his career in 1984 as a Covenanted officer in Standard Chartered Bank, and later worked for Pharmacia (now split between GE Healthcare Life Sciences and Pfizer) in corporate planning and project management. Mr.Rao also managed large NBFCs for a few years.
Mr.Rao is presently the Chairman of MEdRC Edutech Ltd, a young company at the leading edge of ICT based medical and healthcare education. He is also an Advisor to the Christian Medical Association of India, an Honorary Professor at the Centre for Organisation Development and Director/Advisor to a few social enterprises in India.
Mr.Rao’s professional interests have included public private partnerships, CSR and sustainability issues. In recent years, and specifically at TBSS, he led a significant business turnaround while building a network of rural BPOs and changing staffing and engagement models.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Osmania University in Hyderabad and a Master’s in Management from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
